It’s summertime and hot...but not nearly as hot as in the Middle East where our Troops are in full battle rattle as they continue to fight for freedom. THEY NEED TO KNOW WE STAND BEHIND THEM! Right now with newly deployed Troops arriving in dangerous areas in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as many Platoons, and they are signing up for support quickly. They are just asking to receive mail from back home – their America – our America.
Many of you may not know this but stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan serving our country are "working dogs" and their handlers. Military working dogs first entered the service in March of 1942 to serve in the Army’s K-9 Corps. Today, the dogs, who have an actual military service record book assigned to them, are still playing an active role in searching for explosives and seizing the enemy. They are more than a dog they are a soldier, partner and friend.
Wag-on-Inn has adopted Northrop Grumman in Saudi Arabia for the U.S. Air Force dogs and the Saudi Arabian K9 Explosives Dog Program. These dogs are trained there and then sent to Iraq, Afghanistan, or wherever they are needed to keep our soldiers safe.
Wag On Inn will be a drop off site for donations for these K-9's and their handlers. We will be sending them donations twice a month. After speaking with the Head Dog Trainer he has reported back to me and Jen that these are the things on the guys wish list:
A LETTER….A CARD….A POSTCARD….is all they ask for. They want to hear from you back home….any news is welcomed...and if you are able to put together a small care package, that would be an extra blessing to them.
Things they ask for:
"Men's" magazines, cars, maxim, sweets, cookies, etc. Anything from the states is a moral booster. For the dogs, simple stuff like jerky type treats, no bones or pig ears.
Our first shipment will be going out July 1st. Please get together anything you wish to have shipped to them and Jen and I will make sure it reaches it's destination.
Thank you,
Lisa and Jen
